TYPOGRAPHY

Razgibanka

Švicarija is a stylistically distinct building located in the center of Ljubljana, far in the woods of Tivoli Park.

I see Švicarija as a place that welcomes a variety of events and changes. One of the most beautiful features of the building are the traces of the time spent in the material, and the whole meaning of the architecture is in sustainability.

Švicarija was built (for the second time) with great ambitions, from quality materials and in a luxurious style. As a hotel, it was never suitable for permanent residence, but despite this, many people adapted to it and settled there. Various external factors shape a space, and this space shapes the ways of life of the people who inhabit it. Inhabitants were mutually changing this space according to their own needs and thereby actively transforming it into their home. The identity of Švicarija has thus changed many times and adapted to social situations and individuals.

The Razgibanka typeface follows this characteristic of constant change in such a way that it has such a large number of rules for dealing with letterforms that one could almost say there are no rules. At the same time, it exists in two distinctive styles, in a more serious, but still lively, and in an ornamental, which is even more dynamic. Both styles are inspired by architectural details and paintings found on the exterior and interior of the house. Razgibanka expresses the dynamic image that Švicarija lives even today externally, in society, and internally in relation to the individual.
