PHOTOGRAPHY / GRAPHIC ART

Les pensées

The artist's book Les pensées stands as a unique exploration of thoughts and emotions, employing the intricate interplay of cyanotypes, monotypes, and handcrafted flag binding. This is more than just an artistic endeavor; it represents profound research into my own introspection—an intimate journey into my unattended thoughts.

Les pensées draws inspiration from the photographic memories of my travels to Lanzarote, the experiences gained, and the diverse tapestry of people I've encountered along the way. Opting for the cyanotype technique to develop photographs added a poetic essence to my contemplation of the island. However, mere photographs wouldn't suffice, as I yearned to delve into myself, embracing both the positive and negative aspects of my identity, ultimately seeking to discover who I truly am.

In this unique artistic exploration, I sought to augment the visual experience by incorporating the thoughts and quick illustrations of individuals I've met. The monotype technique was chosen for this purpose, as its singular print nature and the requirement to execute it in a mirrored fashion symbolize the act of confronting myself in front of my psychological mirror. The monotypes become a visual dialogue, capturing the essence of this introspective journey, with thoughts expressed in three different languages—Slovene, English, and French.

Flag binding. Made by hand.
